Planned Giving
In 2003, the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation established the "Archer Society" to recognize those individuals who included a charitable gift in support of the Foundation as a part of their estate plans. The society carries on the legacy and tradition of Dr. John Archer (1741-1810), a Harford Countian, who in 1769 received the first medical diploma issued in America and began his practice of medicine in Harford County. Ultimately, he and his son, Dr. Thomas Archer founded the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland in 1799.
Upper Chesapeake Health continues this fine tradition of providing healthcare to the communities of Harford and Cecil Counties. The "Archer Society" of Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation enables the community to create personal legacies that will enrich the heritage of healthcare to all who come through the doors of Upper Chesapeake Medical Center and Harford Memorial Hospital.
